What is timber moulding
Timber moulding refers to decorative wood trim that is shaped or carved into a specific profile, used for various purposes in interior and exterior design. It’s commonly found around doors, windows, walls, ceilings, or floors, enhancing the architectural features of a space. The profiles can be simple, like baseboards or crown moulding, or more intricate, with detailed patterns and carvings. Timber moulding can be made from various types of wood like pine, oak, or hardwoods, and it can be left natural or painted to match the surrounding decor.

How to install the timber moulding
Start by measuring
You need to measure the length of the area where you’ll be installing the moulding and mark your cuts carefully, noting where you’ll need angled cuts, usually 45-degree cuts for corners. For example, corners of walls, doors and windows, or joints of moulding products all require bevel cutting. Our products, like timber trim bunnings and fedwood timber mouldings, are made of high quality raw materials, so there is no need to worry about cracking when cutting.
Cutting the Moulding
Use a miter saw to cut the jewson timber mouldings at the appropriate angles for corners, typically 45 degrees for inside and outside corners. If you’re installing baseboards or trim around doors/windows, you’ll also need to cut pieces to fit along the wall. Make sure the cutting sides are clean and precise, as uneven cuts will make the moulding fit poorly and require more filler.
Attach the Moulding
Starting with one piece, apply a small amount of wood glue to the back of the lewis timber mouldings (if using), then press it firmly against the wall. Or you can use finish nails or a nail gun to secure the howdens timber mouldings. Nail at an angle so that the nails go into the wall studs. Keep checking for level as you go along, especially if you’re doing a long wall or multiple pieces.
Finishing Touches
Once the champion timber mouldings is nailed in place, fill any nail holes with wood filler or caulk, then sand it smooth once dry. If there are any gaps between the finlaysons timber mouldings and the wall, you can fill them with caulk or a similar gap filler. Of course, if you require a painted or stained moulding surface, you will need to complete this before installing the moulding.
